On November 7, EBRD Star Venture Startups Investor Pitch event showcased 6 startups within the EBRD Star Venture Programme at StrategEast Forum in Almaty. The event was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Young entrepreneurs presented their pitches to the esteemed panel of judges which including: Marvin Liao (Global Macro Investor specialized in Startups, Partner at Diaspora Ventures), Chris Burry (UC Berkeley SCET Global Ambassador, Co-CEO of US Market Access Center), Steve Adelman (Founder and Managing Director of Nexus Partners) and Jay Onda (Director (Venture Investments), Marubeni Ventures Inc).
Every participant had 12 minutes, comprising a 5-minute pitch, 4 minutes for Q&A, and 3 minutes for judge feedback. The jury evaluated startups from such fields as HR, smart parking, islamic halal banking, fintech and others.
The event was divided into two segments: EBRD Star Venture Program Presentations where participants gave insightful overview of EBRD’s initiatives, showcasing their commitment to fostering innovative startups in the region and real Pitches from Startups where entrepreneurs got a unique platform to pitch their groundbreaking ideas to a diverse audience of global investors gathered at the Forum.
