Azerbaijan’s SOCAR and UK-based Petrofac set up a joint venture

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Petrofac have established a joint venture to render services on training and education on the basis of modern software for oil-industry workers.

SOCAR reports that the parties signed the Memorandum of Association at the presentation of SOCAR-Petrofac JV.

“In the JV the share of SOCAR is 51% and Petrofac 49%. The purpose of the JV is to develop of skills and knowledge of the oilmen due to the capabilities of both companies. The new company will provide services on training and education of employees for energy projects in Azerbaijan and other countries on the basis of advanced and modern programs,” said Karim Osserian, Petrofac’s global leader in the field of international engineering & manufacturing training.

According to SOCAR, organization of trainings will be carried out with the use of infrastructure of the SOCAR Education, Training & Certification Department.

In his speech SOCAR’s vice president for personnel, regime & IT Khalig Mammadov said that creation of the JV with Petrofac is a timely and very important step.

“Cooperation with world-known company Petrofac, rendering services in the field of training is going to be effective and useful for both SOCAR and the oil industry as a whole. JV’s activity will focus on the training of national personnel, and in the future on improvement of human potential of the region,” Mammadov said.
