Germany’s GP Günter Papenburg to construct toll roads in Uzbekistan, $500 million FDIs on the project expected

Germany’s GP Günter Papenburg has set up a joint venture for production of asphalt mixing plants and spare parts. The venture will also repair road construction equipment and will rehabilitate roads, Novosti Uzbekistan reports.

GP Günter Papenburg has built 50-km-long section of the Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beineu international transport corridor. This road section has a cement and concrete cover. The project budget exceeded 66 million Euros.

The company is expected to start construction of toll roads in Uzbekistan. $500 million foreign direct investments will be attracted for the project.

Toll roads will be alternatives to existing roads linking cities of the country. Tashkent-Samara-Bukhara can become the first route for a toll road. The toll road will have a covering of a higher quality and will allow driving at a higher speed than normally.
