Belarus has joined the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) work to evaluate the support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). The agreement was reached during the visit of the Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Labor and Social Security Minister Valery Kovalkov to Paris to attend the Eurasia Week 2018 held on 19-21 November.

“The Belarusian delegation submitted its application to join the OECD Framework for the Evaluation of SME and Entrepreneurship Policies and Programs. The Economy Ministry will be a national coordinator of the project,” the Belarusian embassy said.

The Belarusian delegation met with Head of the OECD Eurasia Division William Tompson to discuss Belarus’ achievements under the OECD Eurasia Competitiveness Programme and also promising areas of cooperation. The parties also reviewed the interim results of the implementation of the OECD expert recommendations based on the peer review in Belarus  “Improvement of professional skills of small and medium enterprises through business support services”. The final outcome of this project will be presented during the Eurasia Week 2019.
