EBRD ready to increase investments up to €100 million a year for Kyrgyzstan

President Sooronbai Jeenbekov today met President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Sir Suma Chakrabarti.

The views were exchanged at the meeting on prospects of cooperation in the implementation of projects, including modernization and construction of water facilities, expansion of irrigation networks throughout the country.

The projects in the energy sector, support of private enterprises, strengthening of the financial sector are carried out jointly. 249 investment projects for $20 billion will be carried out before 2040 in the framework of the National Development Strategy, President Jeenbekov said.

EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti expressed readiness of the Bank to support projects in Kyrgyzstan and to increase the scope of investments.

EBRD supported around 200 projects for $800 million. The Bank provides around 15 million Euros annually for support of projects in Kyrgyzstan. The Bank is ready to increase investments up to $100 million Euros a year. The Bank supports priority areas of the country in water supply, irrigation, agriculture, energy sector, mining industry, Sir Suma Chakrabarti said.
