EU, German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce assess business climate in Azerbaijan

On 13 June, the Azerbaijani capital of Baku hosted the fifth EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum. This annual event attracted a high turnout of over 800 participants, including government representatives and business leaders, who engaged in panel discussions and business-to-business meetings.

The one-day business event analyzed Azerbaijan’s business climate and highlighted some key sectors in the country. The forum also offered a good opportunity to present the EU Business Climate Report Azerbaijan 2019.

This 4th business survey was carried out by the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan), with support from the EU.

The survey aims to assess the current conditions for doing business in Azerbaijan, highlighting key reform achievements and remaining bottlenecks.

“The European Union is helping to create the best possible business environment for the development of cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan,” said Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas, Head of the EU Delegation to the country, about the report.

“As in previous editions, the fourth EU Business Climate Report Azerbaijan surveys the current business climate in Azerbaijan, presenting the perspectives of a large selection of companies that do business in the country.”

The report’s findings are based on the views of no fewer than 130 companies, from a total of approximately 400 EU companies currently active in Azerbaijan.

They range from small and medium-sized enterprises to large companies, and operate across a wide range of industries. Efforts to improve the business climate lie at the heart of the EU’s cooperation with Azerbaijan.
