USAID supports the development of agricultural sector in Moldova

The USAID High Value Agriculture Activity in Moldova (HVAA) Project has launched a call for grant applications for implementation of marketing plans to export of fruits and table grapes. The deadline for submitting applications for funding is March 16.

The funded activities will facilitate compliance with specific requirements of clearly identified importers from the European Union market or other non-traditional markets for Moldovan horticultural sector and will contribute to increasing fruit and table grape exports to the markets.

The USAID / HVAA project anticipates providing grants amounting to 2.7 million lei, and selected beneficiaries will receive individual amounts between 600-900 thousand lei. To demonstrate commitment to financing, the applicant must contribute at least 50% of the total grant activity.

For those interested in grants, on 14 February an informative workshop on application procedure will be held.

The project aims to contribute to developing agricultural sector in 2016-2021 in order to boost economic growth and changes in rural areas, increasing the welfare of residents.  To achieve the goal, the HVAA project, together with the agricultural entrepreneurs, the water users’ associations for irrigation and other partners contribute to increasing the profitability of each hectare of agricultural land, increasing the quality and productivity of the cultivated products, increasing sales on the local and international market and encouraging partnerships in the agricultural sector.
