Azertac, a leading Azerbaijani media outlet, has published an interview with Lika Merabishvili, Regional Director for the Caucasus at StrategEast.
In the interview, Ms Merabishvili discussed the key trends shaping Azerbaijan’s sustainable growth and the broader transformation of the South Caucasus economy. She noted that Azerbaijan has entered a new phase of economic diversification, emphasizing digitalization, renewable energy, logistics, and human capital development. “Azerbaijan is taking deliberate steps to strengthen its knowledge-based economy and integrate into the global digital ecosystem,” Ms Merabishvili said.
Highlighting digital transformation, AI, and education technology as priority areas, she also stressed the importance of developing a strong startup ecosystem and fostering public–private partnerships in fintech, agritech, and energytech. Merabishvili emphasized that regional cooperation among South Caucasus countries is essential for attracting investment and enhancing economic resilience through shared infrastructure, logistics, and digital transformation efforts. Speaking about the future of the digital economy, she underlined the need to integrate advanced technologies such as AI, data analytics, and blockchain into traditional sectors and to strengthen digital governance and international collaboration.
