StrategEast invites students with an academic or professional interest in Eurasia to apply for a semester-based research internship.

2. About the program
Strategeast is a leading independent institution working to develop Eurasia’s digital economy, in collaboration with international financial institutions, development agencies, global tech companies, and Eurasian governments.
This internship is built around student-led research. Applicants propose a question or issue related to Eurasia that they want to explore. Selected interns develop their research during the academic semester with guidance from StrategEast experts, connecting their academic studies with practical regional expertise.
3. Research areas
Applicants may propose a project in one of these three broad areas:
- Digital Economy, AI & Public Policy in Eurasia: AI policy and governance; digital transformation; IT-sector regulation; digital resilience and cybersecurity policy; technology-sector development; digital government and innovation policy.
- Innovation, Startups & Investment in Eurasia: Startup ecosystems; entrepreneurship; venture capital and access to financing; technology investment; local IT industries; talent and workforce development; expansion of global technology companies into Eurasian markets.
- Eurasia’s Technology & Economic Relations: U.S.–Eurasia technology cooperation; cross-border digital trade; regional technology and economic integration; technology diplomacy; economic and digital resilience; connections with U.S., European, and global technology markets.
4. Eligibility
The program is open to students enrolled at universities or university programs located in Washington, D.C., and/or D.C. residents currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
5. How to apply
Applicants must submit the following through the application form:
- Résumé or CV
- Research proposal of approximately 500–750 words
The proposal should explain the applicant’s research question, why the topic matters, the Eurasian country, subregion, or regional issue it will examine, how it relates to the applicant’s academic interests, and the final research product they propose to produce.
