The White Farm was launched by a 3.6 million EUR Dutch investment in the village of Kvemo Bodbe, Sighnaghi Municipality.
The farm is to overcome the current challenges in the raw milk sector.
The key problem is that the country lacks raw milk. The farm was established to tackle this problem. Daily output of 440 Dutch cows makes up only 10-12 tons of milk, but this is not sufficient.
“Georgia lacks enough volume of raw milk and our citizens have to buy dairy products made of milk powder that comprise dead cells. This was our key motivation and that’s why I have decided to open this farm.
We had communication with our Dutch partners. We updated them on the current situation in Georgia and explained that the country lacked raw milk and it was worth making investments in this field. They invested 3.6 million EUR. At the same time, we obtained a preferential state agro credit and engaged in mechanization support program. In the first case, we received 1.5 million GEL co-funding, in other case we bought a tractor at 200 000 GEL. The farm employs 32 persons, including 90% are local residents”, Dito Bankanashvili said.
After the farm inauguration, AgroHub became the farm’s first partner and customers are able to buy dairy products of the farm’s raw milk at AgroHub network.
“We have already started supply of our raw milk to the AgroHub network of stores. We also plan to launch our line production”, the White Farm founder noted.
