Armenia, World Bank discuss implementation of agricultural programs

Armenian Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan received Friday a delegation headed by World Bank’s Senior Agriculture Economist Bekzod Shamsiev.

Issues related to implementation of Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness Project (CARMAC II) and a grant program aimed at improvement of monitoring and assessment of the agricultural policy were discussed at the meeting.

The representatives of the World Bank said that the main aim of the mission is to monitor the arrangements made during the previous mission in May and the actions derived from the restructuring on these two projects in connection with the change of management.

The parties pointed out the necessity of efforts to increase the scale of the results on the Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness Project and to use the resources as effective as possible.

Stressing the importance of the WB-implemented program, Khachatryan spoke about cattle breeding problems and agriculture problems as a whole. He said joint efforts should be focused on enhancement of productivity.

The parties exchanged opinions also over land use, prevention of infections in cattle breeding etc.
