Azerbaijan up by 14 positions in Global Competitiveness Index 2019

Azerbaijan has jumped by 14 positions in the ranking Global Competitiveness Index 2019.

ABC.AZ informs that when commenting on the ranking, Vusal Gasimli, the executive director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms & Communications, stated that Azerbaijan is ahead of a number of sub-indicators in GCI 2019.

“Ease of Hiring – 1st place, active labor market policy 32nd place, employee-employer cooperation 30th place, wage-productivity compliance 14th place, foreign direct investment & technology transfer 28th place, talent attraction 17th place, women’s leadership opportunities 34th place, intra-enterprise cooperation 26th place, inter-enterprise cooperation 19th place, social protection 33rd place, talent retention 25th place, doctor density 26th place, average educated labor force 5th place, average educated population 4th place, the possibility of finding qualified personnel 30 place, economics of education 33rd, secondary education in 20th place in the labour market, matching education Economics 33rd place, compliance with secondary education to the labour market 20th place, the relevance of higher education to labour market 36th place, the population with higher education 33rd place, access of scientists and engineers 23rd place,” the executive director said.

Gasimli also expressed his attitude towards the purpose of this report: “The purpose of ranking GCI 2019 is to hold global discussion of the potential and talent of individuals and teams to enhance innovation, growth and competition. Only two revolutionary social packages realized in 2019 are direct investments in human capital and demonstrate the human factor in the basis of the president’s policy.”
