British BP enters Uzbek oil and gas market

Uzbekneftegaz, SOCAR (Azerbaijan) and BP (Great Britain) signed a tripartite agreement to assess the exploration potential at three investment blocks in the Ustyurt region using advanced methods and technologies.

The prerequisite for the conclusion of this document was the signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding at the previous International Exhibition and Conference OGU – 2018, held in Tashkent.

During the year, meetings and negotiations were conducted, as well as a study and preliminary analysis of materials on the investment blocks of Uzbekistan. The signed agreement became the foundation for the first practical work of world-renowned companies in Uzbekistan.

“We came to the exhibition and conference to show personal interest and a desire to work with our Uzbek colleagues and friends,” said Vice President of SOCAR Bahram Huseynov. “Together with BP, we are considering the possibility of exploring three investment blocks in the Ustyurt region. We have already signed the relevant Agreement, thereby confirming our desire in further work.
