EBRD to allocate $300 million for modernization of water supply systems in Uzbekistan

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with EBRD President S. Chakrabarti on May 9, at the annual meeting of the Board of governors of the institution.

Welcoming the head of the Uzbek delegation, the EBRD President noted the significant progress made in relations with Uzbekistan over the past two years, largely due to the radical reforms and innovations in the economic model of the country initiated by the President.

The meeting also discussed current issues of cooperation, prospects for expanding the project portfolio and priority areas for further cooperation.

Following the meeting, mandate letters were signed on the implementation of a number of large-scale projects in the field of modernization of water supply systems in the regions of the Republic for a total of more than $300 million.
