EU supports SMEs development in Armenia

On 11 April, Head of EU Delegation to Armenia, Piotr Świtalski, opened the 5th Women’s Club established in the country with help of the EU-funded ‘Support to SME Development in Armenia’ (SMEDA) project.

The project also helped establish the ‘WE Clubs’ platform – the leading module of the Women Entrepreneurship initiative aimed to promote and encourage women entrepreneurs who gather regularly to share, exchange, establish new business connections, learn and get inspired by each other’s successes.

So far, five Women Clubs were held in Yerevan, and two in Goris, Syunik marz, each on a specific business topic. The clubs will be ultimately transferred to women-led consortia for sustainable continuation in Yerevan and marzes.

Since 2017, the EU-funded ‘Support to SME Development in Armenia’ (EU-SMEDA) project has been supporting Armenian start-ups with two types of grants – Innovation Matching Grants and Science and Technology Entrepreneurship grants.
