German experts to help Ukraine develop highway network

The State Road Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) hosted a meeting of the delegation of German experts on infrastructure development chaired by Rainer Bomba, the former State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany.

“Ukraine has ambitious plans backed by record funding and a clear action plan. We attract funds under state guarantees, work on public-private partnership projects, introduce new principles of work. The German experience is important for us both in terms of planning and systematic organization of all processes,” Ukravtodor Head Oleksandr Kubrakov said, the Government portal reported.

Rainer Bomba praised Ukravtodor’s goal to upgrade state roads in the coming years and shared the experience of road network planning for 10-20 years. According to him, Ukravtodor’s initiative to independently assess the quality of the roads sets new rules for the road business. However, for maximum effect, it is necessary to develop technical supervision at all stages of repair and construction work.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the participation of German experts to achieve long-term plans for the construction and development of Ukraine’s highway network.
