Germany ready to invest $700 million in construction of hydropower plant in Kyrgyzstan

Germany is ready to invest $700 million in construction of a hydropower plant in Kyrgyzstan, Economy Minister Oleg Pankratov told reporters Monday commenting on agreements reached during the Kyrgyz president’s trip to Germany.

“Parties are considering the construction of the HPP with a capacity up to 150 megawatts,” he said.

Various agreements totaling 1 billion euros were inked, he said, and the bulk of them refer to hydro energy, he noted.

The parties also exchanged the protocols of ratification of the agreement on technical assistance worth $40 million, including $21 million for construction of hospitals, he added.
