Kyrgyzstan, UK discuss opening of innovation centers in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan

Director of the State Agency for Local Government and Inter-Ethnic Relations Bahtiar Saliyev met with representatives of the UK Department for International Development (DFID) led by Head of DFID Central Asia Peter Fernandez Cardy on May 20 in Bishkek.

They discussed cooperation between the Kyrgyz Agency and DFID in the development of local government in Kyrgyzstan, and entrepreneurship and innovation programs in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

The program envisages the creation of innovation centers in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan with the aim of creation and further support of new business projects, as well as providing consultations to SMEs and potentially successful enterprises.

Raul Harbad, Regional DFID Advisor on Private Sector Development, Anara Ashiralieva, Project Coordinator, and Jonathan Hornbrook, DFID Economic Development Project Manager, were also in attendance.
