Minsk named one of the best tech start-up hubs in Europe

Minsk has been named as one of the three best cities in Europe for the development of IT start-ups in the annual State of European Tech 2019 report by the Atomico Investment Fund. The other two cities are Cluj-Napoca in Romania and Delft in the Netherlands.

Minsk is also among the top 20 cities in Europe in terms of the pace of development of the IT community, with the number of visitors to industry meetings rising by 44% per year.

Belarus took 25th place out of 45 for the number of professional developers with 56,000. Germany leads with more than 900,000.

Several successful acquisitions of Belarusian companies by major global players have contributed to the explosive development of the start-up ecosystem in Belarus. An important contribution was also made by the Decree on the Development of the Digital Economy in 2017, which improved the tax and legal conditions for doing business in the sector.
