Ukrainian President stands for specifying Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations in Constitution

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stands for specifying in the Constitution of Ukraine the country’s aspiration to join the EU and NATO, as he said in the press conference.

This initiative is being discussed, the President says.

“My ream is now discussing the proposal to anchor European and Euro-Atlantic integration into the Constitution. Both ideas, as the polls suggest, are consolidated for the society, they are largely supported by the society and, at the same time, when anti-European forces come to the fore, waiting for a rematch, I believe that such amendments to the principal Law would ensure against any unexpectedness and be an imperative for all political forces for years ahead,” the President said.

Previously Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Andriy Parubiy had a similar initiative.
