Ukrainian SolarGaps gets €1 million from EU on sustainable energy technology development

SolarGaps – Solar Panel Window Blinds, a startup from Ukraine, has received an EU grant of €1 million in the framework of the Horizon 2020 programme to develop its sustainable energy technology.

The company has designed smart blinds with solar modules on their surface. It is estimated that 1m² of solar blinds can generate enough energy to charge three laptops or power 30 LEDs.

Solar Gaps has become the first Ukrainian startup to receive an EU grant under the Horizon 2020 programme. Previously, the company won a grant from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and EU’s Climate Innovation Vouchers Programme, in January 2018.
