UNIDO interested in implementation of industrial projects in Uzbekistan

The Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Li Yong invited Uzbekistan to consider the possibility of signing a standard basic agreement on cooperation.

According to Uzbekistan TV channel, Yong noted that UNIDO is interested in a significant expansion of the organization’s activities in Uzbekistan through the implementation of industrial projects.

“We propose to consider the possibility of signing a standard basic agreement on cooperation between the Government of Uzbekistan and UNIDO,” Li Yong said.

UNIDO chief stressed that the document will serve as a legal basis for provision of services for development of industrialization and facilitates the implementation of technical assistance projects of UNIDO in the country.

Uzbekistan is the first of the countries of the post-Soviet space, which was invited to sign this agreement.

Li Yong stressed that if the UNIDO Office is established in Uzbekistan, it can receive a status of a regional center for Central Asia.
