Uzbekistan approves framework agreement with EIB

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved a framework agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Investment Bank (EIB) on the activities of the bank in Uzbekistan.

The framework agreement was approved by the presidential resolution “On approval of International agreement” from 4 January 2018.

The document was adopted to further strengthen cooperation with international financial institutions, increase attraction of foreign investment and technical assistance to the country’s economy.

The framework agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Investment Bank (EIB) on the activities of the EIB on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan was signed on 13 October 2017 in Washington (USA).

The head of Uzbekistan defined the State Committee for Investments as the responsible body for cooperation with the EIB and implementation of this international treaty.

The Ministry of Justice was instructed to issue in due course an acceptable legal opinion for European Investment Bank on the validity of the Framework Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Investment Bank.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan was instructed to send a relevant notification on implementation of the domestic procedures by the Republic of Uzbekistan, necessary for entry into force of the international treaty.
