The StrategEast report The Rise of Artificial Intelligence in Central Eurasia offers a comprehensive overview of how AI is transforming the region’s economies, workforces, and governance frameworks. Amid rapid technological progress, countries like Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia, and others are adopting AI across multiple sectors — from finance and agriculture to education and digital government. The report highlights emerging AI startups, new educational programs, and government strategies aimed at fostering innovation and addressing challenges such as skills shortages, weak infrastructure, and limited funding. As countries navigate the global AI race, the report explores the delicate balance between national priorities and international alignment, emphasizing the need for strategic partnerships, regulatory adaptation, and investment in local ecosystems to fully realize the region’s technological potential.
This report also incorporates findings and insights from the AI Policy Dialogues Initiative, led by StrategEast in collaboration with RECONOMY. The initiative aims to strengthen multistakeholder collaboration and foster meaningful dialogue to develop responsible and inclusive AI strategies and governance across Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.
RECONOMY is an inclusive and green economic development program of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), implemented by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation in partnership with Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe.
